1. Introduction

The Department of Molecular Biology, predecessor is Department of Molecular Biotechnology (Biotechnology Research and Development Institute). The name of the department has been changed to Molecular biology when the new institute has been established – Institute of Food and Biotechnology. The department is responsible for managing the Bachelor in Biotechnology – Advanced Program, higher education program in Biotechnology (Master and Doctor). There are 13 lecturers (5 Associate Professor and 8 PhD.), 1 technician and 6 researchers.

 The laboratories of the department include:

- Molecular Biology Lab.

- Gene Technology in Plant Lab.

- Applied Biochemistry Lab.

- Stem Cell Lab.

- Bio Safety Level 3 (BSL3) Lab.

Scientific Research Plan of the department consists of:

- Sequencing and detecting DNA barcodes of valuable crops, animals, mushroom and microorganisms

- Applying molecular biology methods in crop selecting and breeding

- Applying cell techology in medicine and animal husbandry
